Carleton T. Morse Peru - Carleton T. "Carl" Morse, 67, lost a valiant battle with Leukemia on April 13, 2011 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born January 18, 1944 in Plattsburgh, NY the son of James and Helen (Higgins) Morse. Carleton grew up in Essex, NY, graduated from Westport Central School and SUNY at Oswego. He retired from Peru High School in 1997 where he taught Driver Education and Industrial Arts/Technology. Carleton was an avid learner and could give you constructive advice on almost any subject. His best friend called Carleton, Badger, because if you did not agree with him he would not stop badgering you until you changed your mind. He enjoyed redesigning and rehabbing buildings, teaching his sons construction skills, gardening, excavating with his tractor, telling his grandchildren stories about his adventures on the Higgins farm in Chateaugay, and cruising in his Mustang convertible. Carleton is survived by his wife, Sandra (McClatchie) of 47 years; three sons, Carl Jr. and his wife Janice of Peru, Chris and his wife Emi of Melrose, MA, and Chad of Peru; three grandchildren, Taylor, Claire, and Lucas; a brother, Jim Morse and his wife, Marsha of Willsboro; a sister, Lee, and her husband Warren Grasberger of Monroe, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Craig and his parents. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Peasleeville cemetery in Peru.
