Gladys Margaret "Peggy" Thompson AuSable Chasm - Gladys Margaret "Peggy" Thompson, 84, of Old State Road, AuSable Chasm died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at her home with her loving family by her side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. A lifelong resident of AuSable Chasm, Peggy died in the same home she was born in, October 4, 1926. She was the daughter of Benjamin Baird and Beulah Mae (Haselton) Thompson. She grew up at the family homestead in AuSable Chasm and graduated from Keeseville Central School. She worked for the AuSable Valley Phone Company for many years and was an active member of the Keeseville United Methodist Church throughout her years. Peggy lived a life full of love and happiness, she both gave and received. She never had children of her own, but cared for many of her younger cousins and was often referred to as "Mom #2" and "Gram Peg". Peggy's ideal day would be sitting on her porch on a hot summer day watching her "children" play in her yard. Peggy is the last of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Junius Haselton Thompson. She is survived by several loving cousins. There will be no public calling hours. A graveside ceremony will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 1 PM at the family plot in the AuSable Chasm Cemetery with Rev. Edie A. Poland officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the AuSable Chasm Cemetery Association, and mailed to PO Box 567, Keeseville, NY, 12944. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. 834-7667
