Obituary of Richard H. Wright

Richard H. Wright Peru - Richard H. Wright, 86, of the McGarr Road, Peru, died Friday, October 8, 2010 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law. He was born in Peru, November 2, 1923, William and Marguerite (Morse) Wright. Richard served in the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the NYS DOT prior to retiring in 1984. In the 1940s and 50s Richard was a fireman in Keeseville and Peru. He and his wife were residents of Keeseville from 1950 to 1981, at which point they moved to Peru. He was also a member of the Peru Community Church and the Keeseville VFW Post 1505, throughout the years. Richard enjoyed his "exercise class" with all of his friends at the Peru Community Church Fellowship Center. He also enjoyed his time with friends at the Senior Lunch Program at the Peru VFW Post 309. He was very fortunate to have his niece Melissa Goodrich and her husband David, they were always willing to offer him transportation to his favorite social activities. He was working on his "bucket list" and traveled to see his grandsons in Alaska and Idaho this past summer. He lived with his daughter and son-in-law for the previous three years and enjoyed walking with the dogs daily. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara J. Wright of the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh; daughter and son-in-law, Rosalind and Vito Prisciandaro of Peru; grandson, William Prisciandaro and Penny Fossman, and their children, Nora and Addison; grandson, Anthony Prisciandaro of 1902 Lemhi Street, Boise, Idaho, 83705; sister, Pauline Guildersleeve of Mattituck, LI, NY; brother, Roger Wright of Peru; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Howard, Ted, Tim, Ken, and Bob. There will be no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Peru Community Church, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:30am with Rev. Dr. Robert E. Svenson, officiating. Military honors will follow outside of the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to the Senior Citizens Council, 5139 N. Catherine Street, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901.
