Obituary of Dorothy E. Peffer

Dorothy E. Peffer Keeseville - Dorothy E. Peffer, 87, formerly of Scotts Lane, Keeseville, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side. She was born in Keeseville, October 10, 1922 the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Clodgo) Blaise. She married Leo N. Peffer, Jr. May 27, 1944 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He predeceased her, September 16, 2005. Dorothy worked for Prescott's Mill in Keeseville for many years and was self-employed as a home demonstrator. Dorothy was a member of the Keeseville Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Keeseville Ladies of the Elks #2072, the Catholic Community of Keeseville Catholic Daughters, and a past member of the Catholic Community of Keeseville Alter Rosary. She enjoyed puzzles, knitting, and crocheting, but her true love was spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Jean and husband Donald Craig of Peru and Gary Peffer and wife Kathryn of South Glens Falls; five grandchildren, Barbie Craig and companion, Todd Babbie, Donna and Dean Wright, Kathy and Philip Gizzi, Jared Peffer, and David Peffer; six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Tia, Bailey, Alexis, Theresa, and Michael; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents. Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 10 to 11:30am at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 17, 2010 at noon at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Keeseville Rescue Squad or St. John's Church.
