Obituary of John M. Dwyer

John M. Dwyer Port Kent - John M. Dwyer, 66, of Lake Street, Port Kent, died Friday, April 2, 2010 at the CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Troy, February 1, 1944 the son of John C. and Kathrine A. (Roden) Dwyer. John grew up in Keeseville and graduated from Cornwall on the Hudson High School in 1962, and later received an Associate's Degree from SUNY Morrisville in 1965. John was employed with the NYS Police from 1966, retiring as an investigator with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in 1997. Following retirement he worked winters as ski patrol at Whiteface and in the summer months he worked for the NYS Park Police. John enjoyed riding his Harley and snow skiing, but his true love was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed meeting the morning coffee crew at Becky's Diner in Peru. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Deanne E. (Relation) Dwyer; whom he married May 23, 1970 at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy; his children, Kristine Devlin and her husband James of Aston, PA, and Eric Dwyer and his wife Laurie of Port Kent; one granddaughter, Alexis Dwyer; one grandson, Brennan Devlin; his two siblings, Kathleen Bacus and her husband Gerald of Houston, Texas, and Terry Dwyer and his wife Marcy Petrini of Jackson, Mississippi; father-in-law, Harold Relation of West Chazy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lanny Relation and his wife Judy of West Chazy, Ginger Clark of Delanson, Wade Relation West Chazy, Georgia Branham of Plattsburgh, Harold Relation Jr. of Saranac Lake, Dwight Relation and his wife Blossom of West Chazy, Martin Relation and wife Lori of West Chazy, Sandra Smith and her husband Gerald of West Chazy, Debra Chilton and her husband Stephen of Ellenburg Center, Dennis Relation and his wife Penny of Plattsburgh, Bonnie Bijeau and her husband Philip of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11am at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Rev. William G. Reamer, CVPH Chaplain, celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Port Kent cemetery.
