Obituary of Mary Ann Chesbrough

Mary Ann Chesbrough Port Kent - Mary Ann Chesbrough, 66, formerly of Sable Street, Port Kent, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Plattsburgh, December 20, 1943, the 6th of 7 children to Leon and Edith (Reed) Chesbrough. Mary surpassed all odds as her parents were told she would not live past the age of 12. Mary Ann grew up in Port Kent becoming a very independent lady. Mary brought joy to all who knew her. Mary loved music and dancing, The Wizard of Oz, Bride Magazine and spending time with her family and friends. Mary Ann always brought laughter wherever she went. After the passing of her parents, Mary resided with her sister Phyllis Saratowski and her family in Port Kent for many years, until failing health, when she moved to the Jay ICF, Mt. Lake Svcs., and lastly to the Clinton County Nursing Home. Mary worked several years for Champlain Valley Industries and was an avid participant with the Special Olympics earning many medals which brought her much pride. Mary Ann was loved by her family and friends and touched their hearts with her humor, favorite activities and her lust for life. Mary lived to her fullest potential, and taught those who knew her to appreciate the simple things in life. Memories made and shared with Mary will never be forgotten. Mary Ann is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Saratowski of Port Kent, Leona (Bryan)Marsha of Keeseville, and her two brothers, Robert (Roberta) Chesbrough of Virginia and Dale (Marielle) Chesbrough of Alabama. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly Cindy (Paul) Wenzel of Port Kent, Stephen (Michelle) Saratowski of Pennsylvania, Barry (Donell) Marsha of Keeseville, Sgt Brad (Pvt. Danielle) Marsha, both currently serving in Iraq, Tim Votraw of Albany, Karen Votraw of Vermont, David and Jason Chesbrough of Florida, Dale Duprat of Florida, Cindy (Shane) Holt of Georgia, Rhonda Bourg Laurel of Texas, Scott, Keith and Sabrina Bourg of Louisiana, special friends Joy Burdick and Linda Gee and her very best friend Kristi LaMar. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Urgil Votraw, Edith and Ronald Bourg; nephew, Scott Votraw; and her special brother-in-law, Paul Saratowski. Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 12 to 1pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A funeral service will follow at 1:30pm at the Keeseville United Methodist Church with Rev. Edie A. Poland, pastor, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Port Kent Cemetery.
