Obituary of Naomi A. McNeil

Naomi A. McNeil Ellenburg Center - Naomi A. McNeil, 89, waited 29 years to be reunited with Russell in heaven. God granted her desire, January 12, 2010, and she is rejoicing with he and their three predeceased children on the streets of gold. Naomi passed from the Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone. She is formerly of Glenns Way, Ellenburg Center. She was born in Ellenburg Depot, October 6, 1920 the daughter of Herbert F. and Florence H. (Arksey) Miller, the youngest of four daughters. Naomi drove bus for BOCES for several years and was a member of the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church for many years. In 1937 she married Russell R. McNeil, and together they raised seven children. Naomi was a wonderful cook, loved music, and enjoyed traveling. Her greatest joy was her family, and spending time with them. Naomi is survived by her children, Brenda Rogers of Albany, William McNeil (Trudy) of Ellenburg, Diane Brooks (Wendell) of Mooers, Dale McNeil (Patty) of Avon, and Robert McNeil of Rochester; one daughter-in-law, Isabelle McNeil of Enterprise, Alabama; one son-in-law, Warren Patnode of Rochester; seventeen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren; and her sister in law Ruth Nephew of Florida. Naomi also had a special "adopted" grandson, Chance St. Germain of Lyon Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. Naomi was predeceased by her husband, Russell, three sisters, Sara, Ada, and Lois, and three children, Miller, Bruce and Phyllis. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1pm at the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church with her grandson, Pastor Kent W. Brooks, officiating, and Pastor Robert R. Phillips, assisting. Entombment will follow at the Whispering Maples Memorial Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot. Donations in her memory may be made to the Ellenburg Wesleyan Church or the Mooers Camp Meeting Association.
