Obituary of Kenneth Billings

Kenneth BillingsMooers Forks - Kenneth Billings, 82, of the Gero Road, Mooers Forks, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his home with his loving family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Massena, November 3, 1927 the son of Peter and Eva (Hough) Billings.Kenneth married the former Barbara Moody, February 17, 1948; they were married for 61 years prior to her passing.Kenneth served in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. He was self-employed for many years before beginning his career with the Town of Mooers, September 1, 1976. He was elected Highway Superintendent in 1988 and retired as Highway Superintendent, December 31, 1995. He enjoyed hunting and tending to his animals, especially the cattle he raised. His true love though was spending time with his family.He is survived by his nine children, Linda LaRocque of Burlington, VT, Gail Billings and husband, Ernest Vaillancourt of Franklin Center, Quebec, Patricia Billings of Mooers Forks, Barbara Aubin and husband Ken of Mooers Forks, Cynthia Smith of Mooers Forks, Kenneth Billings and wife Cynthia of Rinkon, Georgia, Terry Billings and wife Denise of Mooers Forks, Todd Billings of Mooers Forks, and Tammy Brink and husband Jeffrey of Mooers Forks; fifteen grandchildren, Lisa Draleaus, Misty Vaillancourt, Tracey Vaillancourt, Kevin Billings, Chad Billings, Heath Belrose, Travis Belrose, Andrew Billings, Kristin Billings, Jason Billings, Justin Billings, Katrina Billings, Caleb Billings, David Brink, and Dakota Brink; great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dean, and Alexis Belrose; Brittany, Kayla, Shawn, and Alyssa Vaillancourt; Austin and Brendyn Martin; Haley Agoney; Cole and Zachary Billings; Bryce Billings; Sierra and Dakota LeClair; Nicholas and Jacob LaRocque; Devin Draleaus, Haidyn Belrose, Paige Agoney, and Devin Billings; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his parents; one son, Ronnie Billings; two sons-in-law, Robert LaRocque and Jeffrey Smith; one daughter-in-law, Jamie Billings; three brothers, Arthur, Francis and George Billings; and one sister, Elizabeth Unser.Calling hours will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 11am at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, with longtime family friend, Rev. Alan D. Shnob, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in the Union Cemetery in Mooers Forks.Donations in his memory may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
