Gladys L. WestPlattsburgh - Gladys Lovena (Quick) West, 81, of Paula Way, Plattsburgh has gone to be with her Lord and Savior and be rejoined with her husband, Jesse James West. She passed, Monday, October 5, 2009 following a brief illness at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Center in Plattsburgh.She was born in Hope Township, NJ, February 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Walter and Lena (Blaine) Quick.Gladys was a loving wife, homemaker, and mother. When her husband of 34 years passed away, she sought work outside the home. She worked for 15 years at Peru Central School as a studyhall and cafeteria monitor. She loved working with all the kids. Gladys loved to read, enjoyed the NASCAR races, and was a Jeff Gordon fan. She was an exceptional cook and loved family events.She was a member of the Independent Baptist Church, and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for years.Survivors include her children, James J. West and wife Dorothy of Rome, NY, Jessica Joy Myers and husband Noel of Grand Forks, ND, Lovena Ann Moore and husband David of Maryville, Tenn., Susan G. Snyder and companion, Darryl Reno of Plattsburgh, John M. West and wife Debbie of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Jesse E. West of Plattsburgh; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, and all of her siblings.Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 7 to 8pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A service will follow at 8pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will be Friday, October 9, 2009 at 2pm at The Free Union Cemetery in Great Meadows, New Jersey.Donations in her memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. 643-9055
