June I. SignorPeru - June I. Signor, 85, formerly of the Signor Road, Peru, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was currently a resident of Pine Harbour in Plattsburgh.She was born December 15, 1923, the daughter of Richard and Anna (Wiggins) Irwin. June graduated valedictorian of her 1940 class at Peru Central School. She attended Albany Teacher's College and later enlisted in the United States Navy. She served during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946.June was a purchasing agent on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base for many years.She enjoyed volunteering at the CVPH Coffee Shop, the food bank at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church, and at the Harkness United Methodist Church where she kept the books in balance for many years.June enjoyed bowling, shopping, and eating out, but her true love was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her three sons, Terry Signor and wife Charlie of Robstown, Texas, Daniel Signor of Tucson, Arizona, and William Signor and companion, Janet Guay of Peru; three grandchildren, Aja Signor, Rose Signor, and Sky Signor; brothers, Frank Irwin and wife, Jocile of Peru, Richard Irwin and wife, Pat of Potsdam, Bruce Irwin and wife, Lorraine of Watertown, and Dale Irwin and wife, Suzanne of Plattsburgh; sisters, Mildred and husband, Ralph Gellner of Lake Placid, Beverly and husband, Donald Smith of Cape Cod, and Colleen and husband, Dick Conners of Plattsburgh; one brother-in-law, Charles Signor of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William J. Signor, March 11, 1999; one infant son; and her brother, Nathan Irwin, May 27, 2006.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 1pm at the Harkness United Methodist Church with Rev. Edie A. Poland, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the West Peru Cemetery.Donations in her memory may be made to Harkness United Methodist Church.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. 643-9055
