Richard L. "Dick" FavreauMooers - Richard L. "Dick" Favreau, 65, of the North Star Road, Mooers, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh surrounded by his loving family.He was born in Plattsburgh, June 23, 1944, the son of Ernest and Vezina "Ve" (Dumas) Favreau.Richard grew up in Mooers and attended Mooers Central School. He served as the Mayor of Mooers for a number of years. He was employed at Agway, Cumberland Ford Motors, Durocher/Lincoln Mercury, U.S. Post Offices of Champlain and Mooers, and owned and operated Dick's checkout in Sciota. He was also a distinguished member of the Mooers Fire Dept. receiving Fireman of the Year in 1982. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Diane LaFountain Favreau, whom he married July 21, 2002; two sons, Danny Favreau of Remsen, NY, and Dejay Favreau and his wife Marina of Mills River, NC; three step children, Nichole Favreau and her husband, Michael of Mooers, Rachel Fresn and her companion Leroy Hunt of West Chazy, and Joshua Strack of Rochester; three grandchildren, Austin and Isabella Favreau, and Irelyn Hunt; mother-in-law, Thelma LaFountain of Rouses Point, one sister, Bev Dufour and her husband Pete of Mooers; three sisters-in-law, Jean Davison and her husband Gary of North Carolina, Mary Easter and her husband Tom of Keeseville, and Carol Barie and her husband Randy of Florida; two brothers-in-law, Michael LaFountain of Florida, and Wayne LaFountain and his wife Katherine of Georgia; special aunts and uncles; four nieces; and several cousins.He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, JoAnne Favreau; son, Roger Favreau; uncle, Robert Dumas; and father-in-law, Kenneth LaFountain.Calling hours will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 from 4 to 7pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A memorial service will follow at 7pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Gilbert O. Boisvert, officiating. A gathering will follow at the Mooers Fire Dept.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the R5 Cancer floor or the Mooers Fire Dept.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. 236-4747
