Obituary of Scott J. Whitney

Scott J. Whitney Peru - Scott J. Whitney, 51, of the Bear Swamp Road in Peru, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Saranac Lake, December 5, 1957 the son of Joseph and Shirley (Sweeney) Whitney. Scott graduated from North Warren Central School in 1976 and attended Morrisville College. He was employed with his father Joseph in the family business, Whitney Oil Co. for 8 years and currently by NOCO Energy Corp out of Tonawanda, NY as a Sales Territory Manager for 20 years. Scott was an accomplished athlete in high school and has held onto his passion for sports. He loved to watch the Yankees and was a faithful follower of the Peru Central School Sports teams, especially the football team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and was a gourmet cook. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Karen A. (Carpenter) Whitney; two children, Noelle and Ben; one sister, Pam Whitney Greco and husband Rich; Karen's siblings, Mark Carpenter and wife Brenda, David Carpenter and wife Mary, Andy Carpenter and wife Loretta, Paul Carpenter and wife Anne Marie, Lynne Jenkins and husband Paul; mother-in-law, Sandra Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and father-in-law, David J. Carpenter. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11am at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, celebrating. A gathering will follow at Murphy's in Peru. Donations in his memory may be made to the Peru Football Club or the Peru Rescue Squad. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. 643-9055
