Albert E. PoissantMooers - Albert E. Poissant, 82, of Route 11, Mooers, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.He was born in Mooers Forks, September 15, 1926, the son of Eugene and Rosa (DesJardin) Poissant.Albert served in the US Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. While serving in the Army Albert earned his general education diploma and certified training in auto mechanics. Following his honorable discharge he worked as an auto mechanic and truck driver until retiring in 2000.Albert was a communicant of St. Joseph's Parish in Mooers, and a member of the K of C Council 6136, being recognized for 50 years of service in June of 2000, and the Ralph J. Davison American Legion Post 538 in Mooers.Following his wife's passing in 1999, Albert dedicated his remaining years to caring for his son James. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and socializing in his community of friends.Survivors include his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Rhonda Poissant of Champlain, James Poissant of Jay, and Randall and Michelle Poissant of Mooers; two step-children, Janice and husband Donald Rogers of Inverness, Florida and Clifton and wife Nancy Dupee of Rouses Point; three grandsons, SSgt Kelly Poissant of Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, Dustin Poissant of Mooers, and Devan Poissant of Champlain; seven step-grandchildren, Joe (wife Dana) Martineau of West Chazy, John (wife Gloria) Martineau of Clermont, Florida, Julie (husband Keith) Rowe of Ellenburg Depot, Jeff (wife Kim) Martineau of Orlando, Florida, Lisa (husband Dan) Bombardier of Rouses Point, Larry (wife Sara) Dupee of Rouses Point, and Kyle Dupee of Plattsburgh; his siblings, Edmond (wife Jeannine) Poissant of Champlain, Theresa P. Conley of Plattsburgh, Helen (husband Arthur) Rock of Plattsburgh, and Lawrence Poissant of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife of 40 years, Mae Mesec Dupee, whom he married, July 4, 1959. She died February of 1999; one brother, Homer Poissant August of 1992; and two grandsons, Ryan and Evan Poissant, April of 1997.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 3 to 6pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. Members of the Mooers Knights of Columbus will meet Tuesday evening at the Hamilton Funeral Home for a 5:45pm service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 10am at Joseph's Church in Mooers with Rev. Gerald A. Cerank, parish pastor, celebrating. Committal prayers, full military honors, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.Donations in his memory may be made to the Mooers Rescue Squad.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Rd, Mooers. 236-4747
