Obituary of Ronald I. Huntley

Ronald I. Huntley Cadyville - Ronald I. Huntley, 63, of Gene Lefevre Road, died peacefully Saturday, August 15, 2009 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh, August 14, 1946 the son of Irving and Dorothy Huntley. Ron grew up in Cadyville and graduated from Saranac High School in 1964. His parents owned Huntley's Texaco Station in Cadyville, until 1966 when Ron began operating it. Soon after he made a career change, left the store, and started Ron Huntley Trucking. On January 31, 1979 he married Joyce Ann LaMar at St. Augustine's Church in Peru and together they ran the business until Ron had to retire due to ill health in 1994. Today the business is operated by his wife Joyce. Ron was an avid Nascar and NBA fan. He also loved to collect antique cars and motorcycles, which are now on display at Champlain Valley Transportation Museum. He had a great sense of humor and loved making jokes, and spending time with family and friends, especially his dog Rudy. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Joyce Ann (LaMar) Huntley of Cadyville; brother-in-law, David "Sam" LaMar and companion Penni Smith; nieces, Jennifer and her husband John Galarneau IV of Saranac, and Jessica Gregg of Schuyler Falls; great nephew, John Galarneau V of Saranac; and great niece Samantha Gregg of Schuyler Falls. He was predeceased by his parents; and parents-in-law, Arthur and Mildred (Pug) LaMar of Peru. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 4 to 6pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Burial will follow in the Broken Tree Cemetery in Cadyville. Donations in his memory may be made to the H.K Freedman Renal Center or the Cadyville Fire and Rescue. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. 643-9055
