Obituary of William R. Baker

William Robert Baker Strasburg, Pa. - William Robert Baker, 53, formerly of Saranac, died unexpectedly, June 28, 2009 at his home in Strasburg, Pa. He was born in Lyon Mountain, September 9, 1955. He was Valedictorian of his 1973 graduating class from Saranac Central School. Bill enlisted in the U.S.A.F in 1978. He graduated from Lackland AFB in Texas as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was transferred to K.I. Sawyer AFB in Marquette, Michigan, where he flew KC 135 Stratto Tankers. He was then transferred to Plattsburgh AFB in 1984 where he was flying FB 111A Fighters. Bill retired from the service as a Major in 1991. He then graduated from Clarkson University with an MBA and moved to Pennsylvania where he designed and marketed computer software. He later was self-employed as a computer consultant. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Andrea "Maynard" of Sacramento, California, and Nathan of Reading, Pennsylvania; his father, Robert W. Baker of Plattsburgh; his mother and step father, Marion and Richard Allinson of Saranac; sister, Robin Hinson and brother in law, Richard Plummadore of Saranac; brother, Robert Baker and wife Barbara of Cadyville; aunts, Sandra Ahern of Saranac, Evelyn Hammond of Plattsburgh, and Sandra Hendrie of Plattsburgh; nephew John "Fred" Hinson, and niece Jaimie "Gert" Plummadore. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held July 3, 2009 at 12:00pm at the Redford American Legion. Donations in his memory may be made to the Friends of the Lyon Mountain Museum. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. 643-9055
