Obituary of Frederick G. Boyd

Frederick G. BoydWest Peru - Frederick G. Boyd, 74, of the Patent Road, West Peru, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.He was born in West Peru, August 22, 1934, the son of George and Viola (Irwin) Boyd.Fred, a lifelong farmer, grew up in West Peru and graduated from Peru Central School in 1953. He was employed at Norco-Co Concrete Inc. in Plattsburgh for nearly 10 years. He also served as a correction officer at Clinton in Dannemora for 31 years prior to retiring. Following retirement he stayed busy by selling firewood and hay from his home. He was an active member of the Future Farmers of America and the Champlain Valley Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Association.He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. His true love however was being with his family especially his grandchildren. Fred also enjoyed traveling and together with his wife visited Florida, Mexico, and Branson, Illinois, throughout the years.Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Agnes B. (Trombley) Boyd, whom he married June 18, 1955 at St. Matthew's Church in Black Brook; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nan A. Brokos of West Peru, and Karen D. and David A. Babbie of Peru; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Brokos and companion Rob Tibbetts, Joseph Brokos, Christopher Brokos and companion Jami Santor, Eric Babbie, and Jonathan Babbie; one sister, Ruth Boyd of West Peru; and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents; and one son, Clark F. Boyd.Calling hours will be held Monday, June 15, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 10am St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in West Peru.Donations in his memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, 212 Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. 643-9055
