Alfred E. BrassardMooers - Alfred E. Brassard, 82, of the Hemmingford Road, Mooers, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.Mr. Brassard was born in Mooers Forks, February 24, 1927, the son of Frank and Margaret (LaMere) Brassard.Our soldier served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged, February 20, 1950.As a young man he worked at Harry Parks Farm. He was also an employee of Republic Steel in Mineville. As time passed he changed occupations, he was employed as an inspector for Dairylea and Yankee Milk. Alfred completed his professional career with a management position in St. Alban's, Vermont at the Cooperative Creamery. He was a member of the Local American Legion.He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, listening to country and western music. Survivors include wife, Rena P. (LaMere) Brassard of Mooers; his children, Alfred "Jr." Brassard of Mooers Forks, Carla Gero and husband, Larry of Mooers Forks, Debbie Dragoon and husband, Russell "Joe" of Altona; step-children, Larry Dumas and wife, Dolly of Mooers, Linda Mailloux and husband, Claude of Hemmingford, Quebec, Bonnie Benner and husband, Joseph of Mooers, Patrick Dumas and companion, Lorraine Tremblay of Mooers, and Leonder Dumas and wife, Mary Kenna of Champlain; one sister, Bertha Underwood of Mooers Forks; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.He was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Edward Brassard, Flora Monette, Leo Brassard, Clarence Brassard, Lois Brassard, Homer Brassard; and a great granddaughter, Adison Renee Fitzgerald who passed away on Monday, May 18, 2009.Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 6 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, May 25, 2009 at 10am at St. Joseph's Church in Mooers with Rev. Gerald A. Cerank, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.Donations in his memory may be made to the H.K. Freedman Renal Center in Plattsburgh.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. 236-4747
