Marietta W. Robinson
Peru - Marietta W. Robinson, 92, of State Route 22, Peru, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Peru, July 17, 1916, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Burt) Way.
Marietta worked at Georgia Pacific during WWII. She was a postal carrier in Peru and later a postal clerk until retiring at the age of 62.
She was a member of the Peru Community Church for over 60 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and the Keeseville Eastern Star Prospect Chapter #659 Clinton-Essex District. Marietta was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed ceramics crocheting and especially spending time with her family.
She married William Roland Robinson on September 17, 1940. They enjoyed 49 wonderful years together until his passing in 1989.
She is survived by her two children; one son, William T. Robinson of Cedar Keys, FL, and one daughter, Susan LaDuke and Ricky of Peru; six grandchildren, Erik Robinson of Peru, Laurie and Robert Howard of Peru, William B. Robinson of Peru, Chad LaDuke of Schuyler Falls, Beckie and Dan Giroux of Morrisonville, and Katey and Justin Johnson of Plattsburgh; four great grandchildren, Austin Howard of Plattsburgh, Cassidy Howard of Peru, Onterrio LaDuke of Schuyler Falls, and Reileigh Johnson of Plattsburgh, former daughter-in-law, Patricia Robinson of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William R. Robinson; her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Floyd and Martha Way, Carlton and Jean Way, Mildred and William Serrell, Pearl and Harold Ducatte, and Sarah and Stanley Reid; and one granddaughter, Jennifer LaDuke.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 1 to 3pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11am at the Peru Community Church. Burial will follow in the Peru Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Peru Community Church or the Peru Elmore SPCA.
