Robert DupreyMooers - Robert Duprey, 66, a native of Mooers died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in Denver Colorado. He was born in Mooers, March 16, 1943, the son of the late Edward J. and Evelyn A. (Favreau) Duprey. Bob graduated from Mooers Central School in 1960 and was a long time member of the Mooers Alumni Association. After his graduation from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY with a degree in chemical engineering, Bob took a position with the New York Public Health Service in Albany, NY. A year later he became an assistant sanitary engineer at the Robert A Taft Sanitary Engineering Center in Cincinnati, OH. In 1967 he joined the United States Public Health Service. As one of the uniformed services of the United States he rose to rank of Captain and made his home in Denver, CO. He served as Director of Hazardous Waste Management Division of the Environmental Protection Agency Region 8 until his retirement. After retirement, Bob worked as an independent environmental consultant. He also served on the building board of the condominium in which he lived. He was a strong environmental activist throughout his entire life. Bob loved skiing, golfing and was an avid fan of the Denver sports teams but particularly loved the Colorado Rockies whose home base, Coors field, was directly across the street from his home. He enjoyed his many nieces and nephews and the gatherings with family every year. Bob was a communicant of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Denver, CO. Bob is survived by 5 brothers and 4 sisters: Donald Duprey (Janice) of West Chazy (Sciota), Leon Duprey (Sharon) of Mooers Forks, Raymond Duprey (Linda) of Mooers, Msgr. Dennis J. Duprey of Malone, Gerald Duprey (Mary) of Rouses Point, Diane Kozlowski (Steve) of Rochester, NY, Susan Merchant (Steve) of Rouses Point, NY, Joanne Caufield (Mike) of Knoxville, TN and Betty Lapierre (Tom) of Mooers. He also is survived by 23 nieces & nephews, 29 Great- nieces & nephews along with several aunts and uncles and many friends. Besides his parents, Bob is predeceased by 2 Great-nephews and several aunts & uncles. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 6 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10am at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks with Bob's brother, Monsignor Dennis J. Duprey, pastor of the Malone Catholic Parishes, celebrating and Rev. Gerald A. Cerank, parish pastor, concelebrating. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Ann's cemetery in Mooers Forks. Monsignor Duprey will recite committal prayers.Memorial donations may be made in Bob's memory to St Ann's Church in Mooers Forks, NY or to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg, NY.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. 236-4747
