Viola Mae White
Mooers - Viola Mae White, 95, of the Hemmingford Road, Mooers, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Mooers, April 11, 1914, the daughter of David and Clara (Welch) Watts. Viola grew up and was educated in Mooers. She married Henry F. White, October 10, 1942. He died before her, January 28, 2000. Viola was a nurse's aide for many years at the CVPH Medical Center, and at Plattsburgh State University.
Viola was a member of the Mooers American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 44 years, and the Miramichi Dawn Chapter 520 Order of the Eastern Star for more than 60 years.
She enjoyed visiting with family and friends especially their children, great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. White loved to take their grandchildren to events including baseball games, music concerts, winter sleigh rides, and fiddler's contests.
Survivors include her children, Janice "Dolly" Dumas and husband, Larry of Mooers, Larry White of New Mexico; one daughter-in-law, Mary White of Plattsburgh; seven grandchildren, Ricky Dumas and wife, Catherine of Mooers, Larry White and wife Bonnie of Fort Lewis, Washington, Barry White and companion, Melanie Smith of Rouses Point, David Dumas and companion, Emily Clarke (Glens Falls) of Mooers, Lorie LaPointe and husband, Chris of Chazy, Lisa Fuentes and fiance, Tony Johnson of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Snow Ann White of Plattsburgh; 11 great-grandchildren, Cara Dumas, Madison Dumas, Gabrielle Dumas, Kayla White, Joshua White, Justin White, Kenneth Boire, Krista White, Lauren White, Miranda White, Ashley Fuentes; and several nieces and nephews. She and her husband also cared for over 35 foster children during their life together.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Gaylord Watts.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 4 to 8pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11am at the Mooers United Methodist Church with Pastor Al Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Mooers Forks.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Mooers Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary or the Mooers United Methodist Church.
