William G. "Pete" Giddings, Sr.Keeseville - William G "Pete" Giddings, Sr., 78, of Route 9, Keeseville, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at his home with his loving family by his side.He was born in AuSable Chasm, January 19, 1931, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (LaFountain) Giddings.Pete, as he was fondly referred to by family and friends, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on June 25, 1954. He was employed for many years at the US Post Office in Keeseville and the Evergreen Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505.Pete is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Theresa (Liberty) Giddings whom he married on January 7, 1956; eight children, Allen Giddings of Latham, Barbara Soulia and husband Terry of Peru, Betty Lipke of Keeseville, Warren Giddings and wife Gabi of Germany, Bruce Giddings of Middlebury, VT, Martha Glubrecht and husband David of Spokane Valley, WA, William Giddings, Jr. and wife Robin of Keeseville, and Daniel Giddings of Keeseville; 22 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Blaise of Keeseville, Faye Blaise of Virginia and Mary Giddings of Florida; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jeannette Giddings of Keeseville, Ellie Blaise and husband Ernie of Keeseville, Glenna Liberty and husband Lawrence of Peru, and Gilbert Liberty of Keeseville; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents, two granddaughters, Stephanie Lynn Clason and Michelle Giddings; one son-in-law, Dick Lipke; and four brothers, Edward, Lawrence, Bert and Albert Giddings. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009 beginning at 3pm at the Keeseville Fire Department. Donations in his memory may be made to the Keeseville Fire Department or Hospice of the North Country.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. 834-7667
