Catherine M. "Kay" Thew Peru - Catherine M. "Kay" Thew, 78, of the Bear Swamp Road, Peru, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Boston Massachusetts, January 19, 1930, the daughter of Alan and Anna (May) MacDonald. Kay, as she was fondly referred to, graduated from Sydney Nova Scotia High School, Canada. She met Donald Thew in 1952 at Ernest Harmon Air Force Base in Stephenville Newfoundland when he was in the Air Force. She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church and volunteered at CVPH Medical Center. Her true love was her family and she will be greatly remembered as a loving wife and mother. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Donald C. Thew, whom she married November 30, 1957 in Lake Placid; two sons, Aaron Thew and Greg Thew both of Plattsburgh; one granddaughter, Chelsea Thew of Plattsburgh; three brothers, Doug MacDonald and Sander MacDonald of Sydney Nova Scotia and John MacDonald of Edmonton Alberta Canada; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and one son, Eric Thew who passed away in 1958. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 from 1 to 3pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 3pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor of St. Augustine's Church officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in St. Augustine's Cemetery.
