Ross Michael Sarbou Peasleeville - Ross Michael Sarbou, 73, of Deland, Florida, and formerly of Peasleeville, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at the West Volusia Care Center, Orange City, Florida, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of West Voulusia of Deland Florida. He was born in Rochester, June 4, 1935, the son of the late Paul J. Sr. and Rosalia (Velitovich) Sarbou. He served in the United States Army Reserves for several years. Ross started Sarbou Trucking in 1952 and with his equipment and employees assisted in building the St. Lawrence Seaway and later the Adirondack Northway. Shortly there after he started Northern Sanitation in Plattsburgh and served as President for 46 years prior to retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Plattsburgh Kiwanis Club, Plattsburgh Elks Lodge #621, and National Solid Waste. Ross enjoyed gardening, making wine and beer, and painting. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gloria J. (Marcotte) Sarbou, whom he married July 4, 1959 at St. Augustine's Church in Peru; his four children, Michelle Menard and husband Kevin of Plattsburgh, Michael Sarbou of Deland Florida, Paul Sarbou and his wife Marlene of Peru, and John P. Sarbou of Deland Florida; six grandchildren, Hilarie, Joshua, Cody, Anna, Nicholas, and Kelly; two brothers, Eugene Sarbou and wife Jan of Rochester, and Paul Sarbou and wife Noi of Key West, Florida; Gloria's family, Lucille Frenyea of Peru, Evelyn Pelkey of Ormond Beach, Florida, Barbara Licourt of Deland Florida and Peru, Norma Jane Huddleston and husband Jim of Scobey Mississippi, Kathy Laundry and husband Richard of Jay, Mary Seymour of Keeseville, and Theresa Bair and husband Andy of Peru; many nieces and nephews; his beloved pets, Angel and Sullin; and a special grand-puppy, Brandy. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by parents-in-law, John and Gladys Marcotte; sister-in-law and spouse, Shirley and Dick Bailey; brother-in-law, Paul Licourt Sr.; nephew, Kevin Licourt; brother-in-law, Dick Frenyea; brother-in-law, Donald Pelkey; and brother-in-law, Joe Seymour. Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 3, 2008 from 11 to 2pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Members of the Plattsburgh Elk Lodge will meet at the funeral home for a 1pm service. Military honors will follow at 2pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Mother Cabrini Shrine with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, presiding. A gathering will follow at Cricket's Casual Food and Spirits in Peru. Donations in his memory may be made to the Plattsburgh Kiwanis Club or the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge #621.
