Hubert G. ReyorEllenburg Depot - Hubert G. Reyor, 86, of the Wilfred King Road, Ellenburg Depot and formerly of Chazy Lake and Corley Island, Florida, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Fletcher Allen Healthcare Center in Burlington, Vermont, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Chazy Lake, April 12, 1922, the son of Octave and Delphine (Champagne) Reyor.Hubert grew up in Chazy Lake and entered the United States Army in June, 1944, serving in World War II. He served in action at Luxembourg under General Patton and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. Hubert was awarded The European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, The Good Conduct Medal and The Purple Heart. In 1998, Hubert was invited to Washington, D.C. for the dedication of the World War II Memorial and became a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society. He is a member of the American Legion Post 1623 in Lyon Mountain.Hubert retired from Ford Motor Company in Greenville.He returned to his beloved Chazy Lake in 1991, where he enjoyed hiking and 4-wheeling the trails and woods, feeding the wildlife, especially his resident chipmunk and his visiting dog Toby. Hubert also enjoyed country music, NASCAR, fishing, hunting and traveling. Among the places Hubert and Doris visited were Ireland, Germany, Alaska, Mexico and Puerto Rico.Hubert is survived by his wife of 17 years, Doris (Vincent) Reyor, whom he married November 23, 1991 in Dannemora; three step sons, Ricky Reyor of Malone, Kevin Reyor and companion Debbie of Port Henry, and Mark Reyor of Chazy Lake; step daughter, Karen and Joe Southwick of Champlain; one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Ruth Reyor of Chazy Lake; two sisters, Edith Ashline of Chazy Lake, and Loretta Recore of Southbridge, MA; his mother-in-law, Anita Vincent of Chazy Lake; several grand children; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Francis, Donald, Herbert.Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 2pm at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg with Rev. Theodore A. Crosby, pastor of St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain, and St. Michael's Church in Standish, celebrating. Entombment will follow in the Whispering Maples Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the memory of Hubert Reyor may be made to the Veterans Assistance Fund, 137 Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901. This fund will assist Clinton County Veterans in need.Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers.
