Obituary of Frank C. Hillyard

Frank C. Hillyard Keeseville - Frank C. Hillyard, 62, of Main Street, Keeseville, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lockport, NY, February 9, 1946, the son of David H. and Marie F. (Klotz) Hillyard. Frank graduated from Newfane High School. During high school he and his siblings worked on their family's dairy farm. He was a service technician for Wilcox and Holt in Plattsburgh, then distributed gravel to oil rigs for Pawhuska Dozer & and Field Service in Oklahoma, and lastly was a service technician for Francis F. Bezio of Keeseville for many years. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and other wildlife, and his quiet time at evening campfires at home. His true joy in life though, was loving and caring for his family, his community, and his church family. Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Karen A. (Barber) Hillyard, whom he married August 31, 1974 in Schenectady; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Freeman of Keeseville; and Caroline and Carl Gallo of Keeseville; four grandchildren, Christopher, Hope, and Isaiah Freeman, and Michaella Gallo; three siblings, Donald and Mary Ann Hillyard of Tonawanda, Helen and Bob Witkop of North Carolina, Doris and John Zahoransky of Lockport; mother-in-law, Margaret Barber of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and one sister, Beatrice Edmister. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 5, 2008 from 7 to 9pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 26 Dennis Avenue, Plattsburgh, with President Robert A. Judd presiding. Burial will follow in the God's Acre Cemetery in Peru. Donations in his memory may be made to his family to be dispersed at their discretion. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru.
