Clifford E. Brassard
Peru - Clifford E. Brassard, 69, of Rounds Drive, Peru, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Witherbee, October 30, 1939 the son of Edward J. and Lizzie M. (LaValley) Brassard. He grew up in Mooers and graduated from Mooers Central School in 1958. He was a corrections officer for five years at Clinton Correctional. He then began a career with the NYS Police in 1968 and served for 24 years and retired in 1992. He went on to work for Durham's Armored Car until 1995 when he began driving truck for Diamond Comics in Plattsburgh and later for CRST in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Snake, as he was fondly referred to by many, was a member of the NYS Troopers Police Benevolent Association and the million mile truck driver club.
Cliff is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carla Mary (Cashman) Brassard, whom he married September 23, 1988 at the Ellenburg Center Methodist Church; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Mitchell Brassard and companion Lori Tourville of Ellenburg Center, Mark and Heather Brassard of Mooers Forks, Mathew and Tricia Brassard of Ellenburg Center; and John L. and Nancy Kennedy of Saranac; daughter-in-law, Donna Brassard of Mooers; fifteen grandchildren, Bridget, Devin, Dylan, Grant, Matt, Jr., Missy, Alan, Amanda, Kyle, Tyler, Hannah, Parker John, Darren, MaKenzie, and Zachary; two great-grandchildren, Emmett Benware and Harmonie Goodchild; his siblings, Edith and James Mesick of Mooers Forks; Robert and Susan Brassard of Brushton; Gilbert and Vicki Brassard of Mooers; his mother-in-law, Pauline Cashman of Peru; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; one son, Michael Brassard, February 2, 1999; and one sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Kenneth Lagree.
Calling hours will be held Friday, November 28, 2008 from 11 to 1:30pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A memorial Mass will be celebrated, following the calling hours, at 2:00pm Friday at St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor, will celebrate. Rev. Dr. Robert E. Svenson, pastor of the Peru Community Church, will assist. Burial will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
