Alice M. Meyer
Plattsburgh - Alice Meyer, a resident of Pine Harbour, Plattsburgh, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, October 29th. She was 89. Born in Colombia, South America, she was the daughter of mining engineer Newton C. Marshall and Pauline Gibson Marshall. Alice graduated from Glen Ridge High School, New Jersey and from the New Jersey College for Women in 1941. She proudly served with the American Red Cross in Europe during World War II. She was teaching Home Economics in West Orange, NJ when she met and married Samuel Meyer. She resided in West Orange for 45 years. Alice was a member and past President of the YWCA of Essex and West Hudson. She also lovingly dedicated many years of membership and service to the Ridgeview Community Church. She moved to Lake Forest in Plattsburgh when they opened in 1999 and then to Pine Harbour when they opened in 2006 where she will be remembered as an avid Yankee fan.
She leaves behind her loving daughter Polly McFarlin and her husband Michael from Peru, NY, her 3 cherished grandsons Steven McFarlin of Peru, Patrick McFarlin, a student at Brooklyn Law School in Brooklyn, NY, and Ryan McFarlin, a senior at the University of Vermont, her brothers James D. Marshall and his wife Linda of Huron, OH and William A. Marshall and his wife Maryann of Florham Park, NJ, and seven nieces and two nephews and their families.
Mrs. Meyer was predeceased by her beloved son, John Newton Meyer in 1974 and husband in 1991.
Burial will be at the family plot in East Hanover, New Jersey at the convenience of the family.
At this time, Polly and her family would like to gratefully acknowledge the marvelous staff at Pine Harbour and thank them for all their kindness and outstanding care. Mom loved living there.
