I remember when everyone called Jim "Gomer", we used to laugh about it. We had some good times together and I loved picking on him. He was a special person and please, Jim, just watch out for the trees...I know you know what I'm talking about... You will be missed...

My memory of Jim, he was a wonderful man and human being. He was there for me and my family when we needed him most. I will never forget the kindness he gave, and I will always cherish the time I knew him and I know he is absolutely doing the best fishing ever.. Rest in peace, my friend.

I never really got to know Jim very well. We only seemed to chat about inconsequential stuff like whose NASCAR driver was better and which movies we'd watched recently. But Jim really showed his true character when his daughter needed help.He was there constantly by her side even though he wasn't doing well himself. He was quite a man.

My deepest condolence goes out to James's fiance Tioni, Nathan her son. Also, to our two daughters Annette Baker and April Wells. May happy memories carry you all through this sorrowful time. Let the angels walk with you today and always. Yes, James loved his camping and fishing. We used to take our three children camping for a week or longer. Every time no matter what it would rain for the whole week. By the fourth day I would get upset and pack up and go home. The children and I didn't like the idea of getting soaked inside our tents....but, of course it didn't bother James at all. By the time we got home the sun was shining. Our home was maybe twenty-five miles from the campsite. I'm sorry that I'm so far away and can't be there for both our daughters. Thee angels are bringing your father home to be with his loving son..James! So the entire family you are in my thoughts, my heart, and my prayers. God Bless! Love Pauline and Michael Hammond
