
Obituary of Martin Anthony Selby

Marty Selby died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Blue Point, Long Island, NY on May 27, 1943, the son of Andrew and Josephine (Wediges) Selby.
Marty served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1970 being honorably discharged. He served on the HH-43 Huskie helicopter during the Vietnam War fighting fires. Marty also served in Laos and Tripoli as well as several stateside bases; lastly stationing at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. Following his honorable discharge, Marty began working at S.U.N.Y. Plattsburgh, where after 29 years he retired as Maintenance Supervisor.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Becky (Connell) Selby; daughter, Lisa (Curt) and their two sons, Chris and Ian; daughter, Penny; grandchildren, Tony and Hayleigh and their mother, Allie; stepson, Adam (Tania) and son, Jamisyn; and his stepson, Ben (May); a very special sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude Selby and Jeff Ott; and a special sister, Florence; and several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, Marty, Jr.; and four brothers and two sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 3 to 4 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Words of Remembrance will be offered at 4 PM followed by Military Honors. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marty Selby may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and/or Sloan Kettering Institute.
