Obituary of Susan D. Allen

Susan D. Allen, 82, of Signor Road, Peru, passed away, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, February 13, 1941. She was raised by Beatrice (Burrell) and Clifton Straight in Jay. Susan married James W. Allen, June 16, 1962 in AuSable Forks. She worked at Keeseville National Bank as a teller for many years. Susan enjoyed all of nature, but especially watching the hummingbirds at her feeders. Left to cherish the memory of Susan are, her husband of 60 years, James Allen; children, Mary Beth Nelson, Tom Allen, Nancy (Tod) Fiege, and Michael (Maria) Allen; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Coons. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, May 1, 2023 at 1 pm in St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, with Susan’s brother-in-law, Rev. Philip T. Allen, celebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Augustine’s Soup Kitchen.
