Obituary of Veronica Theresa DiDomenico

Veronica Theresa DiDomenico, 90, formerly of the Brand Hollow Road, Peru, died on her birthday, April 20, 2023, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh. She was born in Keeseville, April 20, 1933, the oldest daughter of Leo and Dora (Gordon) Boisseau. She grew up on Grove Street in Keeseville. Veronica always put her family first. After her father died at age 10, she assisted her mother, Dora with 2 younger children. She married Louis LaBounty at age 17 in 1950. They had two children, Karin and Jacqueline. Veronica had many jobs over the years; she worked at the AuSable Chasm gift shop for many years. After her marriage to Louis she did remarry two times, both marriages ending with their passing, (James Babbie and James DiDomenico). She inherited the Friendly Tavern from her late husband, James DiDomenico where she tended bar, organized events, and was a great resource to the community. After selling the Tavern, she managed a Stewart's Shop and worked at Prays Farm stand. During this time, she met her life partner, Rene Goyette. While they never married, they lived together for 40 years. Rene passed in June, 2022. Veronica enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening, canning berries, knitting crafts of any kind, being outdoors, even hunting and fishing with the right company. Left to cherish the memory of Veronica are, her daughters, Karin LaValley and Jackie Lashua; grandchildren, Michael LaValley, Beth Russell, Ann LaValley, Daniel Lashua, and David Lashua; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 5 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, with Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of her family, in St. John's Cemetery in Keeseville. Donations in her memory may be made to Meadowbrook Healthcare Activities Fund.
