Obituary of Jacqueline Ann Tortorelli

Jacqueline Ann "Jackie" Tortorelli, 89, of Plattsburgh, New York, passed away on April 16th, 2023 at CVPH Medical Center. Jackie was born in Brooklyn, NY to Anna Theresa Hoffman and Francis Joseph Knoll on July 5, 1933. She was born at St. Catherine's Hospital. She would later return to St. Catherine's to study and earn her degree as an RN. She enjoyed working in Pediatrics there. Jackie worked for 23 years at CVPH. After her retirement from CVPH she traveled to Nicaragua with the Brothers and Sisters of Charity. Jackie worked at the mission getting school supplies ready for children. She also helped in the health clinic. She was proud of the work she did there. She was a longtime member of St. Augustine's Parish. She was a Eucharistic minister, lector and participated on the bereavement committee and the crafters club. Jackie was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Jackie was predeceased by her parents and her only sibling, a sister, Imelda Simon. Jackie and former spouse, Franklin Tortorelli, had 5 children together. She is survived by her 5 daughters, Jennifer (Gerry) Russell, Sharon (Peter) Wolman, Francesca Bieber, Victoria Tortorelli and Jacqueline (Heinz) Ahlborn. She leaves behind 10 beloved grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She had many loving and close friends. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the healthcare professionals and staff at CVPH who cared for Jackie. Visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru on Friday, April 21st from 5 to 7PM. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine's Church in Peru on Saturday, April 22nd at 11am with Father Alan D. Shnob, celebrating. A private burial service will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Elmore SPCA in Peru, NY or the BSCD community, in honor of Jackie.
