Obituary of Harold Hubert Merrill

Harold H. Merrill, of Peru, NY passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2023 at the UVM Health Network - CVPH, Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh NY, on October 8th, 1935 the son of Hubert and Mildred (Bragg) Merrill. Harold married the love of his life, Margaret M. (Conway) Merrill on July 14th 1962 and enjoyed 49 years together until her passing in September of 2011. Harold served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1957. He retired from Imperial wall coverings after working there for 36 years. After that he enjoyed working at Apple Blossom Florist of Peru, delivering flowers. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing poker with his buddies, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his brother, Lawrence (Jean) Merrill; daughter, Sandra (Stephen) Lafave; son, John Merrill; grandchildren, April Lafave, Stephanie (William) Lafave, Michael (Brittany) Lafave, Anthony (MaryAnne) Aubin; and great grandchildren, Devin, Gage, Jude, Bailey, Jayde, Owen, and Makenzie. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Relation; brother, Carlton, twin brother, Harris, James, and Francis; and his daughter, Susan Aubin. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Memorial Service will follow in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Pamela Ballantine, officiating. In Lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Harold H.
