Arthur “Art” Worley, Jr., 79, of Maine Road, Plattsburgh and formerly of Hill Street, Keeseville, died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, January 18, 1944, the son of Arthur, Sr. and Ruth (Thomas) Worley. He graduated from Edison High School, later earning his Bachelor and Masters Degrees from PSUC. Art served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967, earning an honorable discharge. Art and Helen were married in June 1967 and later moved to Keeseville in 1971 where they raised their three children; Craig (Monique), Kevin (Morgan) and Gretchen Crowningshield (Matt). They survive him, as well as his grandchildren, C.J. (Katie) and Jenna Worley, Emma and Ethan Crowningshield, and Dustin Farrell; and a great-grandson, Bodie Worley. In addition he is survived by his sister, Charlotte (Stuart) Ausby, as well as nieces and nephews. He volunteered to drive the Veteran’s Bus for many years, driving to Albany for medical services. He was employed by N.Y.S. Department of Taxation and Finance and N.Y.S. Department of Labor retiring in 2001. He taught accounting classes part-time at Clinton Community College, PSUC and Clinton Correctional Facility. Art was a member of the Keeseville Methodist Church, a 55 year member of the American Legion, and a 36 year member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge. He was an avid athletics enthusiast and his passion for athletics was carried through to his children and grandchildren, by coaching and following them through the years. He enjoyed many years coaching little league baseball and youth hockey. He enjoyed time on the golf course as often as possible. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially baseball and hockey. He brought sports into the world of his family and many others, which proved to be a positive light in many people’s life. He gained many friends throughout the years through athletics. He also enjoyed 14 wonderful years of retirement in Florida. Art is predeceased by his parents; and in-laws Vernon and Laura Overton. Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 11 to 1 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service with military honors will follow at 1 pm in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at the Keeseville Elks Lodge. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville. Donations in Art’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Hospital. Our family wants to thank the entire staff at Meadowbrook, HCR, Caregiver Support, and all of our friends and family during our journey of eight years.
