Obituary of Sadie E. Hams

Sadie E. Hams, 100, of Willsboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her loving niece, Lucy Corlew, by her side. She was born in Essex on October 24, 1922, the daughter of Dennis and Mary (Gonyea) Mitchell. Sadie grew up in Boquet, NY, and married Guy Hams, the love of her life, on January 18, 1941. She had three children, Charlotte Ann, Juanita Marie, and Regina Gail. She was a homemaker, and a wonderful cook and gardener. In later years she worked at Champlain Valley Bank as a custodian for several years. After retiring she kept busy doing arts and crafts, and crocheted over 300 baby blankets for St. Ann’s Craft Ministry in Nashville TN. Left to cherish her memory are, daughters Juanita Keefe and Regina Durrin, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Guy Hams and daughter, Charlotte Wilkinson. Honoring family wishes there will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023 at one o’clock in Lakeview Cemetery, Essex Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Sadie E. Hams may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
