Obituary of Rolland R. Rock

Rolland R. “Ron” Rock, 86, of Chesterfield Street, Keeseville, died on Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home under the loving care of his family and High Peaks Hospice. Ron was born in Keeseville on February 19, 1937, the son of the late Henry G. and Leah M. (Abare) Rock. He grew up in Keeseville and graduated from Keeseville High School in 1955. After graduation, he worked on various construction projects before becoming a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. After retirement, Ron worked at Friendly’s Restaurant for 17 years. He was a member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge #2207. Ron held many offices for the Elks including District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. He also was a charter member of the Plattsburgh Moose Lodge and a member of the American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Beverly Farrell of Plattsburgh; his companion Lorraine (Rainee) Heagen; children and stepchildren, David Rock (Helen) of Carey, NC, Gregory Rock (Cathy) of Westport, Jeffrey Rock (Lynn) of Morrisonville, Melanie Hiatt (David) of Goldsboro NC, Kimberly Rock of Keeseville, Nancy Gallery (Andy) of Manlius, Sue Teffar (Walt) of Manlius, Darleen Stoudemire (Ed) of Syracuse, Denise Mazepa of Oahu, HI and Darryl Chapman (Joyce) of Baldwinsville. He will also be missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years (together 55 years), Kay R. Rock; first wife, Janet D. and infant daughter, Anne Marie; brothers, Richard R. Rock (Peg), Hubert E. Rock (Joyce), William J. Rock and Gary A. Rock; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Farrell. Honoring his wishes there will be no public calling hours or services. Committal prayers will be private for the family on June 10, 2023 at the Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum, Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Noon at Keeseville Elks Club. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rolland R.
