Obituary of Karen J. Martineau

Karen J. "Joyce" Martineau, 82, of the Conners Road, Peru, passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with her loving children by her side. She was born in Schuyler Falls, March 30, 1940, the daughter of Kenneth and Pearl (Banker) Supernaw. Joyce was married to Jack C. Martineau in June, 1960. They were lifelong residents of Peru. Joyce worked at Schonbek Lighting in Plattsburgh for many years, but Joyce's true passion was caring for children. She loved cooking and baking for her loved ones. She was also an avid reader. Joyce is survived by her children, Mark A. Martineau of Peru, Lance E. Martineau (Betsy) of Delanson, Craig C. Martineau (Angela) of West Chazy, and Kerri Higgins (Chuck) of Savannah, GA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her 5 siblings. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack, January 7, 2014; and a daughter-in-law, Deborah Martineau, September 19, 2020. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Backpack Program thru JCEO or the Elmore SPCA.
