Robert W. Wood, 88, of the Cold Brook Road, Saranac, died Saturday, February 4, 2023 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Lake Clear, December 7, 1934, the son of Clifford and Dorothy (Donaldson) Wood. Robert worked at Imperial for 28 years, retiring in 1997; while operating a beef cattle farm. He married the former Renalda C. LaMare, on June 4, 1960 at St. Joseph’s Church in Dannemora. He was a member of the Siberian Rod and Gun Club and the Trail Groomers Snowmobile Club. Robert enjoyed playing pinochle with Dawn and John Maye, dancing especially to Donnie Perkins, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, playing fiddle music, and spending time with family. Left to cherish the memory of Robert are his loving wife of 62 ½ years, Renalda Wood; daughters, Lisa Stewart (Paul), and Julie Rock; daughter-in-law, Lori Wood; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Smart (Roger). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Dale Wood, August 29, 2012 and Jeffery Wood, June 3, 2019; and son-in-law, Don Rock, September 7, 2004. At Robert’s request there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Noon at the Church of the Assumption in Redford with Rev. Michael J. Jablonski, parish priest, celebrating. Donations in his memory may be made to the family to be allocated at their discretion. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
