Bruce A. Lacey, 82, of the Farrell Road, Willsboro, died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at his home under the loving care of his family and High Peaks Hospice.
He was a 12-pound baby born at home on April 4, 1940, the son of James and Jennie (Denton) Lacey. He spent his entire life in Willsboro, from the day he was born at home, throughout school, and in his passing.
Bruce married the former Martha M. Stone on July 8th, 1961 at Holy Angels Church in Altona, NY.
He worked for the Labor Union for 20 years working on the highway and NYS DOT for 20 years prior to retiring in 2008.
Bruce spent years logging. He started his logging career working with Lawrence Sayward, using Bruce’s work horse, Nellie. Bruce later worked with Roger Belzile. Bruce spent years working and logging the family wood lot on Joe Rivers Road. Bruce cut and harvested all the logs for his oldest daughter’s home from the family woodlot. Bruce favored Husqvarna chainsaws through his years of logging.
Bruce enjoyed many things in his life. He favored a simple, quiet, and peaceful life spending time with his wife and family. Sunday gatherings being one of many regular get togethers. Bruce loved spending his days with his loving wife Martha, often going for rides on Camp Poko road searching for deer and going out for Michigan’s or ice cream. His favorite song was “Kiss an Angel Good Morning” by Charley Pride. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races; Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver; and washing and keeping his trucks in pristine condition. Bruce was quite the storyteller and had a sense of humor that would have his family and friends laughing long after the story was told. Bruce was a family man, a true Patriarch of his family. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren above all else.
