Obituary of Cynthia I. Smith

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cynthia I. Smith, 75, of Bellevue Terrace, Tupper Lake, died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born in Plattsburgh, January 10, 1948, the daughter of Charles E. and Ilene E. (Birnbaum) Smith. Cindy was affectionately known as "Twinkle Toes and Lou-Lou". She had a strong bond with those around her who she loved as much as they loved her back. She loved and at times demanded attention, being pampered and spoiled by her girls. Although her spoken vocabulary was very limited she was highly proficient in speaking with her beautiful blue eyes and her smile. Cindy loved to eat; especially scrambled eggs made by her treasured caregivers who were so fortunate to work with her. She despised crowds and chaos (unless it was something that she was causing). Her earlier years were full of mischievous adventures that she was able to get herself out of by the mere twinkle in her eye. She loved to sit outside near her butterfly garden, enjoying the nature around her. Cynthia is survived by her brother, Major Charles Smith, Jr. of Valencia, CA; and many caregivers and friends. She was predeceased by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Additional obituary information will be added as available. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
