Please share a memory of Carlton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carlton E. "Buzzy" Garrand, 72, of Woods Falls Road, Altona, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the McClure – Miller Respite House in Colchester, VT with his loving family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on May 11, 1950, the son of Carson and Helen (Garrow) Garrand and grew up in Mooers NY, where he attended Mooers Central High School, graduating in the class of 1968. Carl was a talented musician able to play many different instruments. He was especially ardent at playing guitar and electric bass. Carl was called on at times throughout the years to fill in for local and professional musicians at major music venues throughout the North Country as well as the capital district. While he played in many bands Carl was never happier than when he was sharing his gift of music with his sons and grandsons. Carl was gifted with a vast knowledge of electronics. Many knew him for his TV/VCR Repair shops in both Plattsburgh & Mooers. Carl was especially talented with computers; he built and serviced computers for many in the area, he also did web development, networking, and all facets of Network Communications. Carl built and maintained a very popular gaming server that is still running with many current active users; some who went on to become very close friends. Carl was truly blessed with the gift of kindness and caring for others. He could enter a room full of strangers, and in short order, leave behind a room full of friends. People would gravitate to his easy-going acceptance and genuine concern for others. Left to cherish his memory are, his wife Loretta (Siple) Garrand; sons, Carlton J. Garrand of Colonie & John "Jack" Garrand (Kristin Nephew) of Mooers; his first Grandson Carson Garrand of Colonie (19), and his two youngest Cayden (14) and Carter (8) of Mooers; as well as his siblings, Carolyn Babbie (Mooers Forks), Bernice Grimshaw (Chazy), and David (Bonnie) Garrand (Saratoga Springs); and numerous nieces and nephews of which Carl loved them all and will forever be missed. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Sydney Garrand. Carl's family would like to thank the McClure – Miller Respite House for the compassionate, professional care they provided in his last days, as well as the support provided to his family. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, 236-4747.
