Obituary of John F. St. Clair
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John F. St. Clair, 71, of Fred Thew Road, Peru, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh with his two girls, Lynn and Kaitlyn, holding his hands.
He was born in Plattsburgh on March 25, 1951, the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Garrand) St. Clair.
John was a humorous guy. You never knew what was coming out of his mouth next or if he was joking with you. If he was joking with you, you knew he liked you. It was when he stopped joking that you had to worry. John drove tractor trailer for Fort Edward Express for 42 years. When he retired from driving, he continued to work part-time for the company. The owner of Fort Edward Express, Lance Hillman, was not just his boss but also a very good friend. John enjoyed having coffee with a good group of people at Pleasant Corners. John loved his Harley Davidson and loved going for rides with his daughter, Lynn. He had a special relationship with his granddaughter, Kaitlyn, who he loved to spoil. Kaitlyn’s children, Rory and Theo, held a special place in his heart. John became the great man he was always meant to be and will be missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Danny Baker (Kristi); daughter, Lynn McCarty (Doug); daughter-in-law, Connie Baker; grandchildren, Sean, Joshua, Shannon, Trevor, Leanna, Kaitlyn, Jessa, and Shania; great-grandchildren, Korynn, Gabriel, Caiden, Rory, Aliyah, and Theo; his brothers, Steven St. Clair, Wayne (Bonnie) St. Clair, Ricky St. Clair, and Michael St. Clair; his sister, Shelly St. Clair; and many nieces and nephews (some very special; you know who you are).
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Marcelete M. “Peggy” (Keyes) St. Clair; his sons, Ricky A. Baker and Jack E. Baker; his brother, Norman St. Clair; and his sisters, Sandy Deveau and Cindy St. Clair.
