Robert J. “Bob” Rennie, 88, of Fern Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at his home. He was born in Plattsburgh on August 10, 1934 and grew up in Mooers, the son of Harrison and Elizabeth (Earl) Rennie. After graduating from high school and attending college, Bob enlisted in the US Army and served proudly from 1955 to 1957. He was a Korean Veteran and honored guest of the Honor Flight. In his early years Robert worked for Theodore Stay Company. He retired as a self employed contractor. Bob was also president of Fern Lake Association for many years. Robert enjoyed many things in his life including collecting tools and antiques, building, taking photos and Fern Lake with all of its wild animals; he really enjoyed feeding the loons, birds, rabbits and ducks. Bob loved to joke, was quite the storyteller and was always very proud of his Scottish descent. Robert had the biggest heart and would do anything for you. Above all he truly adored and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Karen (Rock) Rennie; sons, Michael J. (Stephanie) Rennie of Peru, and Michael R. (Christine Shay) Rennie of Peru; daughters, Lori Rennie of Morrisonville, Julie (Walter) Cookingham of Plattsburgh, and Sheila (Glen) Brown of Keeseville; grandchildren, Ian Rennie, Sophie Rennie, Tim Rennie, Mikki Rennie, Elizabeth (Josh) Mowery, Lydia Brown, Jeremy Cookingham, Heather (Rick) Hemingway, Morgan Rennie, Kenzie Rennie, Heath Rennie and Darcy Rennie; many great-grandchildren; ex wife, Vaida Rennie; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Richard and Patricia Bartlett; nephew, Cory Bartlett; as well as his cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Robert Rennie (2012).
