Obituary of Ronald D. Miner

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Miner, 68, of Redford, courageously battled and defeated lung cancer, but the toll on his body proved too great and he died unexpectedly at home Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 with the love of his life at his side. Ron is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annette (Charland) Miner; their daughters, Bobbi Peck and her partner, Chris Butler, and Rhonda Triller and her husband, John; their beloved grandchildren, Reilly Peck and his partner, Shelby Bourgeois, Brinn Peck and her partner, Luke Walker, Bailey Peck and her friend, Spencer Peary, and Rowan, Brody and Avery Triller; his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Chuck Barton; his brother’s and sisters-in-law, Tom and Cindy Charland, Ken Charland and Jeannie Boylan, David and Sharon Charland, Jeffrey and Donna Charland, Scott and Rita Charland, and Heath and Ginny Charland; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and countless friends who were like family. He was predeceased by his parents, Don and Evelyn (Fournia) Miner; his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and John St. John; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ron was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was honest, unfailingly loyal and unequivocally moral. He stood up for what he believed was right, defended and supported those he loved at any cost, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was quick witted, with a dry sense of humor that gave most people a few seconds of hesitation to decide if he was joking before they broke into laughter. He proudly served more than 30 years as a corrections officer at Clinton Correctional Facility, where he had many friends among his co-workers. Ron loved golf, poker and trips to the casino. He was an experienced and talented outdoorsman with no shortage of hunting and fishing buddies. For many years he was a youth softball coach and volunteer fireman, and was active in town politics. The family requests donations in his memory be made to St. Jude’s online at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-Jude.html, by calling 800-805-5856 or via mail at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
