Obituary of Joan Patricia Bailey

Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan Patricia (Boswell) Bailey, 95, of Sandy Pines Trailer Park, Keeseville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on March 3, 1927, the daughter of Hugh and Lillian (Mannix) Boswell. Upon graduation from Peru Central School, Joan chose a career in banking as a teller. After 42 years of banking at the Peru, Keeseville, and the HSBC branches, she finally retired. Joan was a devoted Catholic and her faith was very important to her. She attended Mass in person until she was unable to and continued with daily Mass on TV. Joan had a high work ethic. She was an immaculate house keeper and was always meticulous on her children’s appearance, herself, and her home. She raised 4 children by herself and always made sure that they never went without anything. Any sporting event, she would be there for any of her children, often sitting in a chair in the middle of the field when 2 of her children were playing baseball one on one field and the other on another field. Joan was a sweet soul, always caring about others. She was concerned with the families in her neighborhood; making sure the children had new hats, gloves and jackets for the winter each year and food for anyone in need. When she cooked meals, she always made sure to cook enough to give to her family. She loved to cook and host for the Holidays and have everyone over. She loved the Boston Red Sox and watching golf, no matter what channel golf would be on, she could name every player, but never played the game herself. Joan did love to play horseshoes and enjoyed bowling with her team in tournaments, league and travel. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Shelley (Bailey) Frazier of Keeseville, Mark Bailey of Peru, and Cindy (Bailey) Cunningham (Michael) of Hernando Beach, FL; grandchildren, Brad (Latoya) Frazier of Orlando, FL, Charles (Amanda) Frazier of Chuluota, FL, Devin Frazier and fiancé, Bianca of Upper Jay, Shane and Patrick Cunningham of Kansas City, MO, Ashley (Seth) Rogers of St. Pete’s, FL, and Brenon Bailey of Keeseville; and great-grandchildren, Keshawn Frazier, Lukas Lawrence, Charlie and Charlotte Frazier, Ireland Frazier and Emma Rogers; sister, Jean Boswell of Ipswich, Mass; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son, Harold "Harry" Bailey; and great granddaughter, Addison Lillian Frazier; brothers, Jimmy, Benjamin, and Hugh Boswell; and sisters, Rita and Irene Downs and Veronica Miner. Joan’s family would like to thank good friend and neighbor, Cindy Ives and the staff at CVPH on R3 for their tender care of Joan. There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11 AM at St. John’s Church, Keeseville, with Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Peru.
