Obituary of Kenneth Edgar Mott

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Edgar “Pop” Mott, 81, of Schuyler Falls, NY, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2022, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Ken was born in Freeport, NY, on May 23, 1941, to George and Margaret (Cox) Mott. He grew up in Queens Village, NY, attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, and graduated from Power Memorial Academy in Manhattan in 1958. He moved to Long Island in 1972, and later to Schuyler Falls. Ken married Linda Sue (Miller) Duffy on June 15, 1992, at the Islip Grange in Sayville, NY. He worked at Di Benedetto Buick Dealership in Bayside, NY and Square Speed in Belrose, NY. Ken was also Supervisor of Mechanics with the New York City Department of Sanitation for 25 years prior to retiring in 1995. After retirement, he spent many years as a bus driver for the Commack School District. Ken was a member, and served terms as President of the Palmanock Driving Club of Long Island, Keystone Miniature Horse Club of PA, and Plattsburgh Hog Chapter. He was also a part of the Bayport Heritage Association and the founder and charter member of LILY (Long Island Land Yachts). Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, traveling, watching the NY Giants and Rangers, and spending time with his family and all his animals, including his miniature horses, dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, and geese. He was a lifelong Harley Davidson motorcycle rider. Ken was a loving husband, son, father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was always available to help anyone, anywhere, at any time. He was a great storyteller; his sayings and jokes will be remembered for generations. Ken lived his life fully, up until the very end. Left to cherish the memory of Ken, are his wife of 30 years, Linda Mott; his children, Melissa (Peter) Plotkin, Richard Mott, and Patricia Thomas; his stepchildren, Jodi (Dermott) Duffy-Morgan, Matthew (Theresa) Duffy, and Marc (Shannon) Duffy; his grandchildren, Elliot, McKayla, Wade, Donald, Maxwell, Jillian, Alexander, Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Meghan, Thomas, and Matthew; and his nieces and nephews Stacey Sullivan Connors, Kellie Sullivan Igneri, Timothy Sullivan, and Kenneth Sullivan. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Ann (Mott) Sullivan; his mother, Margaret Gertrude (Cox) Mott; his stepson, Donald Edward Duffy; and his step-grandson, Sammie Bartlett. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Elsie Page (Ferguson) Mott. A celebration of Ken’s life will be held Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 1 to 5 pm at the Saranac Town Hall. Those who wish to join in a motorcycle procession to the Town Hall are invited to meet at the Peru Fire Dept. at Noon on that date. Donations in Ken’s memory may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital, Tunnel To Towers, your local Humane Society, and The Ronald McDonald House Charity. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, NY.
