Obituary of Kristen Nicole Ahern
Please share a memory of Kristen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kristen Nicole Ahern, 36, of Stonegate Way, Plattsburgh, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 2, 2022 at her home.
She was born in Plattsburgh on March 2, 1986, the daughter of Michael and Beth (Gillen) Ahern, Jr.
She married the love of her life, Todd Begore on June 20, 2015 in a hand holding ceremony. Despite a lifetime disability from a severe seizure disorder, which tragically ended her life, Kristen fulfilled her life dreams of becoming an independent young married woman living in her own apartment enjoying a life every girl dreams of; moving from a residential facility at the Clinton county ARC. With her circle of support she and Todd made a life plan with residential staff and longtime friend Shona (Lashonda) Jenette; Todd’s loving sister, Shelby Begore, her brother, Michael Ahern, her plan creator, Cindy Fuller, her friendly neighbor, Uncle Aaron and all of the behind the scenes people from Sunmount DDSO office and Residential Resources. Kristen, despite our concern, found a way to make her own life, and we were so proud to see her living a full life after the many challenges she faced due to her illness. Those that knew Kristen loved her sweet disposition and wonderful quirky sense of humor. She gave so much love to all she knew.
She is survived by her husband, Todd Begore; parents, Michael and Beth Ahern; father in law and Mother in-law, Lee and Kitty Begore; sister, Jacqueline and Ryan Bussey and their children, Hannah Vanweort, Mason, Henley and Evie Bussey; brother, Michael Ahern and his fiancé Lindsay Oertel; sister in law, Shelby Begore and her daughter, Emily; and great niece Zoey Alejandro. Also, her Mimi, Shirley Ahern; many aunts and uncles, Donna and John Scarpelli, Mary and Aaron Safford, John Gillen, Tom and Marybeth Gillen, Tricia Gillen, Mary and Pat Pafford, Joanne and Steven Forkey, Laurie and Michael Stevens, and Jim and Maryanne Ahern. She had many close cousins and many many lifetime friends, to include her Best friend growing up Jaimie Plumadore Beggs.
Kristen is now in the loving arms of her Papa, Michael Ahern Sr, and her grandmother and grandfather, Pat and Jack Gillen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Noon at the Church of the Assumption, Church Rd., Redford, with Rev. Michael Jablonski, parish priest, celebrating. A Celebration of Life will follow at the American Legion, Post 1618, Redford.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Kristen’s husband, Todd Begore. Like Kristen all of her life, Todd lives with disabilities. While they both have had their family’s unending support, they strongly desired and worked hard for their independence. They were each other’s support physically and financially; without her, Todd’s financial burden has increased. If you are able to help, please make donations payable to Todd Begore in care of Lashonda Jennette, 2 Stonegate Way, Apt. 2, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
