Michael Paul James, 63, of Lynde Street, Plattsburgh, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on May 26, 1959, the son of Paul George and Micheline Theresa (Vincent) James. Michael had a passion for football and was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants. Michael coached at BCS, PHS, and MAI schools. He graduated from Plattsburgh State where he earned his teaching degree. Michael played football for Plattsburgh State and the North Stars. Michael was also an avid chess player and most of all he loved teaching chess to Jeremy, Dan, Alicen, Adalyn, Macy and Brandon. He was thrilled at the success of all of his students. Mike wore many hats in life; he taught school at OLVA, worked for Coldwell Banker’s where he was Associate of the year. He then migrated out west to Reno Nevada where he worked as a pit boss at Fitzgerald’s Casino for 18 years. He recently worked at the Clinton County Sheriffs Dept. Michael was a loyal friend to many. He asked that when you see Alice that you make her laugh over funny stories that you and he had together even if it’s at his expense. Most of all he loved writing children’s books with Alice. Survivors include his loving friend and life partner, Alice Carr; brother, Terry James and companion, Donna Fleury; sister, Kelly McDonald and husband, Todd McDonald; brother, Todd James and wife, Denise James; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Micheline James; and grandparents, George and Mary James and Gerald and Gertrude Vincent. Honoring Michael’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services. Donations in memory of Michael Paul James may be made to the American Diabetes Center. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
