Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With sad hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Elizabeth. She was born on November 12, 1933 to Frank and Bessie (Rabideau) LaBarge. She was raised on the family farm in Ellenburg. She learned many things from her parents from helping her father in the fields to learning to cook, canning to planting a garden and growing beautiful flowers from her mother. She enjoyed cheering for her brother Lloyd in high school while he played basketball. She married her husband Leonard on June 19, 1954. Betty worked numerous jobs and later in life worked for NYSEG retiring after 28 years of dedicated service. She made many friends there including her daughter-in-law Judy, Jean Bouchard and Theresa Bruno. She always enjoyed her summers with Leonard at their camp called “The Cedar Shake” on Chateaugay Lake. She became an avid jet skier. We children thought she was going through her second childhood. She leaves some special friends from the lake, Junior and Dolly Thomas and Sharon Boyer. They later moved to Pine Ridge Drive in Morrisonville when Leonards health deteriorated. Betty also enjoyed traveling with her friends to the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Florida, Maine and Louisiana. Betty volunteered for RSVP at Morrisonville Elementary School. She enjoyed her Senior Center in Plattsburgh where she made more friends. Betty is survived by her son, Donald and wife, Judy; daughter, Brenda Joyal (her late husband, George); grandson, Kenneth and wife, Janice; great grandson, Dexter; sister-in-law, Shirley LaBarge; 3 nieces; a special cousin, Theresa LaFountain; special family by friendship, Dale Gearhart, Amber, Amelia, and Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews.
