CW4 Sheridan J. Garner Sr., 76 passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022 at his home, and surrounded by his family. He was born in Cobleskill, the son of Robert L. and Evelyn (Palmer) Garner September 6, 1946. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Peggy, son Sheridan, Jr. and fiancée Amanda Leroux, and daughter Rebecca (John) Minckler. He is also survived by siblings Karen (Peter) Rios, Linda (Dezsi) Laczo, William James (Linda) Garner, and nine nieces and nephews. As a lifelong educator, Sheridan taught at Southside on PAFB and Peru Elementary School for 30 years and substitute taught at the Jr-Sr High School after retiring. He served as President of the Peru Teachers Association for several years. He was a proud member of the 962/309 Army Reserve Unit for 21 years serving in Germany during Desert Shield/Storm earning a Meritorious Service Medal. He served on the Clinton County Planning Board for 25 years, 20 years as Chairman. Ever giving, he also offered 8 years of passionate volunteer work at the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Fitzpatrick Cancer Center present and past, Dr. Duus, Dr. Whitman, and Rachel Hite, NP for the wonderful care he received for 14 years. At Sheridan’s request there will be no public services, burial will be at a later date in the National Cemetery in Saratoga. Memorial donations may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center for those wishing to do so. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
